Does it seem as though it would be too difficult for you to go online? Not necessarily. Developing an online presence does not need to be hard. With a little bit of time you can easily develop an online presence for your business to begin attracting more business.

1.    The first step to going online is making sure that you have a website. If you do not already have a website, you will need a domain name. Ideally, choose the name of your business, but if it is already taken or if it is too difficult to spell or remember, then you might want to choose something else.

2.    The next step is to register your domain name and obtain hosting. Most companies will handle both steps of the process for you. Avoid free hosting companies and instead opt for a reliable company. The cost will be more, but it is well worth it to ensure that your website will be up and running.

3.    You also need to do some homework. Consider the websites of your competitors. What do you think works for their websites? What would you do differently? Apply that research to your own website.

4.    Design a website. A small website will not take that long to design and many web hosting companies will even allow you to use free design templates to speed the process along. You do not even have to know HTML to get started.

5.    Submit your site to search engines. You can either hire someone to do this for you or do it yourself, which is actually not that complicated at all. You can do this manually in just a few minutes.

6.    Develop an advertising strategy. There are many ways to advertise your website, including those that are for-cost as well as those that are free. With a plan of action in hand, you will know exactly what you need to do next.

7.    Do not overlook free methods of advertising. The best advertising plans are a mix of paid and free methods. Some of your best techniques may actually prove to be free; however, such as article directory submission, press releases and link exchanges.

8.    Review the traffic reports for your website to determine which methods are working best and which should be improved or changed.

9.    Update the content on your site to ensure that your site remains fresh.

10.    Review your advertising strategy.

That's it! That's all it takes to develop an online presence.
